************ 말라기 1장 ************
1 여호와께서 말라기를 통하여 이스라엘에게 말씀하신 경고라
An oracle: The word of the LORD to Israel through Malachi.
2 여호와께서 이르시되 내가 너희를 사랑하였노라 하나 너희는 이르기를 주께서 어떻게 우리를 사랑하셨나이까 하는도다 나 여호와가 말하노라 에서는 야곱의 형이 아니냐 그러나 내가 야곱을 사랑하였고
I have loved you, says the LORD. "But you ask, 'How have you loved us?' "Was not Esau Jacob's brother?" the LORD says. "Yet I have loved Jacob,
3 에서는 미워하였으며 그의 산들을 황폐하게 하였고 그의 산업을 광야의 이리들에게 넘겼느니라
but Esau I have hated, and I have turned his mountains into a wasteland and left his inheritance to the desert jackals.'
4 에돔은 말하기를 우리가 무너뜨림을 당하였으나 황폐된 곳을 다시 쌓으리라 하거니와 나 만군의 여호와는 이르노라 그들은 쌓을지라도 나는 헐리라 사람들이 그들을 일컬어 악한 지역이라 할 것이요 여호와의 영원한 진노를 받은 백성이라 할 것이며
Edom may say, 'Though we have been crushed, we will rebuild the ruins.' But this is what the LORD Almighty says: 'They may build, but I will demolish. They will be called the Wicked Land, a people always under the wrath of the LORD.
5 너희는 눈으로 보고 이르기를 여호와께서는 이스라엘 지역 밖에서도 크시다 하리라
You will see it with your own eyes and say, 'Great is the LORD-even beyond the borders of Israel!'
6 내 이름을 멸시하는 제사장들아 나 만군의 여호와가 너희에게 이르기를 아들은 그 아버지를, 종은 그 주인을 공경하나니 내가 아버지일진대 나를 공경함이 어디 있느냐 내가 주인일진대 나를 두려워함이 어디 있느냐 하나 너희는 이르기를 우리가 어떻게 주의 이름을 멸시하였나이까 하는도다
A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me? says the LORD Almighty. "It is you, O priests, who show contempt for my name. "But you ask, 'How have we shown contempt for your name?'
7 너희가 더러운 떡을 나의 제단에 드리고도 말하기를 우리가 어떻게 주를 더럽게 하였나이까 하는도다 이는 너희가 여호와의 식탁은 경멸히 여길 것이라 말하기 때문이라
You place defiled food on my altar. But you ask, 'How have we defiled you?' "By saying that the LORD's table is contemptible.
8 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 너희가 눈 먼 희생제물을 바치는 것이 어찌 악하지 아니하며 저는 것, 병든 것을 드리는 것이 어찌 악하지 아니하냐 이제 그것을 너희 총독에게 드려 보라 그가 너를 기뻐하겠으며 너를 받아 주겠느냐
When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice crippled or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?' says the LORD Almighty.
9 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 너희는 나 하나님께 은혜를 구하면서 우리를 불쌍히 여기소서 하여 보라 너희가 이같이 행하였으니 내가 너희 중 하나인들 받겠느냐
'Now implore God to be gracious to us. With such offerings from your hands, will he accept you?'-says the LORD Almighty.
10 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 너희가 내 제단 위에 헛되이 불사르지 못하게 하기 위하여 너희 중에 성전 문을 닫을 자가 있었으면 좋겠도다 내가 너희를 기뻐하지 아니하며 너희가 손으로 드리는 것을 받지도 아니하리라
'Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar! I am not pleased with you,' says the LORD Almighty, 'and I will accept no offering from your hands.
11 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 해 뜨는 곳에서부터 해 지는 곳까지의 이방 민족 중에서 내 이름이 크게 될 것이라 각처에서 내 이름을 위하여 분향하며 깨끗한 제물을 드리리니 이는 내 이름이 이방 민족 중에서 크게 될 것임이니라
My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations,' says the LORD Almighty.
12 그러나 너희는 말하기를 여호와의 식탁은 더러워졌고 그 위에 있는 과일 곧 먹을 것은 경멸히 여길 것이라 하여 내 이름을 더럽히는도다
"But you profane it by saying of the Lord's table, 'It is defiled,' and of its food, 'It is contemptible.'
13 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 너희가 또 말하기를 이 일이 얼마나 번거로운고 하며 코웃음치고 훔친 물건과 저는 것, 병든 것을 가져왔느니라 너희가 이같이 봉헌물을 가져오니 내가 그것을 너희 손에서 받겠느냐 이는 여호와의 말이니라
"And you say, 'What a burden!' and you sniff at it contemptuously,"" says the LORD Almighty. ""When you bring injured, crippled or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?"" says the LORD."
14 짐승 떼 가운데에 수컷이 있거늘 그 서원하는 일에 흠 있는 것으로 속여 내게 드리는 자는 저주를 받으리니 나는 큰 임금이요 내 이름은 이방 민족 중에서 두려워하는 것이 됨이니라 만군의 여호와의 말이니라
'Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord. For I am a great king,' says the LORD Almighty, 'and my name is to be feared among the nations.
************ 말라기 2장 ************
1 너희 제사장들아 이제 너희에게 이같이 명령하노라
'And now this admonition is for you, O priests.
2 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 너희가 만일 듣지 아니하며 마음에 두지 아니하여 내 이름을 영화롭게 하지 아니하면 내가 너희에게 저주를 내려 너희의 복을 저주하리라 내가 이미 저주하였나니 이는 너희가 그것을 마음에 두지 아니하였음이라
If you do not listen, and if you do not set your heart to honor my name,' says the LORD Almighty, 'I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not set your heart to honor me.
3 보라 내가 너희의 자손을 꾸짖을 것이요 똥 곧 너희 절기의 희생의 똥을 너희 얼굴에 바를 것이라 너희가 그것과 함께 제하여 버림을 당하리라
'Because of you I will rebuke your descendants; I will spread on your faces the offal from your festival sacrifices, and you will be carried off with it.
4 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 내가 이 명령을 너희에게 내린 것은 레위와 세운 나의 언약이 항상 있게 하려 함인 줄을 너희가 알리라
And you will know that I have sent you this admonition so that my covenant with Levi may continue,' says the LORD Almighty.
5 레위와 세운 나의 언약은 생명과 평강의 언약이라 내가 이것을 그에게 준 것은 그로 경외하게 하려 함이라 그가 나를 경외하고 내 이름을 두려워하였으며
'My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered me and stood in awe of my name.
6 그의 입에는 진리의 법이 있었고 그의 입술에는 불의함이 없었으며 그가 화평함과 정직함으로 나와 동행하며 많은 사람을 돌이켜 죄악에서 떠나게 하였느니라
True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many from sin.
7 제사장의 입술은 지식을 지켜야 하겠고 사람들은 그의 입에서 율법을 구하게 되어야 할 것이니 제사장은 만군의 여호와의 사자가 됨이거늘
'For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction-because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty.
8 너희는 옳은 길에서 떠나 많은 사람을 율법에 거스르게 하는도다 나 만군의 여호와가 이르노니 너희가 레위의 언약을 깨뜨렸느니라
But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi,' says the LORD Almighty.
9 너희가 내 길을 지키지 아니하고 율법을 행할 때에 사람에게 치우치게 하였으므로 나도 너희로 하여금 모든 백성 앞에서 멸시와 천대를 당하게 하였느니라 하시니라
'So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law.'
10 우리는 한 아버지를 가지지 아니하였느냐 한 하나님께서 지으신 바가 아니냐 어찌하여 우리 각 사람이 자기 형제에게 거짓을 행하여 우리 조상들의 언약을 욕되게 하느냐
Have we not all one Father? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our fathers by breaking faith with one another?
11 유다는 거짓을 행하였고 이스라엘과 예루살렘 중에서는 가증한 일을 행하였으며 유다는 여호와께서 사랑하시는 그 성결을 욕되게 하여 이방 신의 딸과 결혼하였으니
Judah has broken faith. A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the LORD loves, by marrying the daughter of a foreign god.
12 이 일을 행하는 사람에게 속한 자는 깨는 자나 응답하는 자는 물론이요 만군의 여호와께 제사를 드리는 자도 여호와께서 야곱의 장막 가운데에서 끊어 버리시리라
As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the LORD cut him off from the tents of Jacob-even though he brings offerings to the LORD Almighty.
13 너희가 이런 일도 행하나니 곧 눈물과 울음과 탄식으로 여호와의 제단을 가리게 하는도다 그러므로 여호와께서 다시는 너희의 봉헌물을 돌아보지도 아니하시며 그것을 너희 손에서 기꺼이 받지도 아니하시거늘
Another thing you do: You flood the LORD's altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands.
14 너희는 이르기를 어찌 됨이니이까 하는도다 이는 너와 네가 어려서 맞이한 아내 사이에 여호와께서 증인이 되시기 때문이라 그는 네 짝이요 너와 서약한 아내로되 네가 그에게 거짓을 행하였도다
You ask, 'Why?' It is because the LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.
15 그에게는 영이 충만하였으나 오직 하나를 만들지 아니하셨느냐 어찌하여 하나만 만드셨느냐 이는 경건한 자손을 얻고자 하심이라 그러므로 네 심령을 삼가 지켜 어려서 맞이한 아내에게 거짓을 행하지 말지니라
Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.
16 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와가 이르노니 나는 이혼하는 것과 옷으로 학대를 가리는 자를 미워하노라 만군의 여호와의 말이니라 그러므로 너희 심령을 삼가 지켜 거짓을 행하지 말지니라
I hate divorce, says the LORD God of Israel, and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment, says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.
17 너희가 말로 여호와를 괴롭게 하고도 이르기를 우리가 어떻게 여호와를 괴롭혀 드렸나이까 하는도다 이는 너희가 말하기를 모든 악을 행하는 자는 여호와의 눈에 좋게 보이며 그에게 기쁨이 된다 하며 또 말하기를 정의의 하나님이 어디 계시냐 함이니라
You have wearied the LORD with your words. 'How have we wearied him?' you ask. By saying, 'All who do evil are good in the eyes of the LORD, and he is pleased with them' or 'Where is the God of justice?'
************ 말라기 3장 ************
1 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 보라 내가 내 사자를 보내리니 그가 내 앞에서 길을 준비할 것이요 또 너희가 구하는 바 주가 갑자기 그의 성전에 임하시리니 곧 너희가 사모하는 바 언약의 사자가 임하실 것이라
'See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,' says the LORD Almighty.
2 그가 임하시는 날을 누가 능히 당하며 그가 나타나는 때에 누가 능히 서리요 그는 금을 연단하는 자의 불과 표백하는 자의 잿물과 같을 것이라
But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap.
3 그가 은을 연단하여 깨끗하게 하는 자 같이 앉아서 레위 자손을 깨끗하게 하되 금, 은 같이 그들을 연단하리니 그들이 공의로운 제물을 나 여호와께 바칠 것이라
He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness,
4 그 때에 유다와 예루살렘의 봉헌물이 옛날과 고대와 같이 나 여호와께 기쁨이 되려니와
and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the LORD, as in days gone by, as in former years.
5 내가 심판하러 너희에게 임할 것이라 점치는 자에게와 간음하는 자에게와 거짓 맹세하는 자에게와 품꾼의 삯에 대하여 억울하게 하며 과부와 고아를 압제하며 나그네를 억울하게 하며 나를 경외하지 아니하는 자들에게 속히 증언하리라 만군의 여호와가 말하였느니라
'So I will come near to you for judgment. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive aliens of justice, but do not fear me,' says the LORD Almighty.
6 나 여호와는 변하지 아니하나니 그러므로 야곱의 자손들아 너희가 소멸되지 아니하느니라
'I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.
7 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 너희 조상들의 날로부터 너희가 나의 규례를 떠나 지키지 아니하였도다 그런즉 내게로 돌아오라 그리하면 나도 너희에게로 돌아가리라 하였더니 너희가 이르기를 우리가 어떻게 하여야 돌아가리이까 하는도다
Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you," says the LORD Almighty. "But you ask, 'How are we to return?'
8 사람이 어찌 하나님의 것을 도둑질하겠느냐 그러나 너희는 나의 것을 도둑질하고도 말하기를 우리가 어떻게 주의 것을 도둑질하였나이까 하는도다 이는 곧 십일조와 봉헌물이라
Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' "In tithes and offerings.
9 너희 곧 온 나라가 나의 것을 도둑질하였으므로 너희가 저주를 받았느니라
You are under a curse-the whole nation of you-because you are robbing me.
10 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 너희의 온전한 십일조를 창고에 들여 나의 집에 양식이 있게 하고 그것으로 나를 시험하여 내가 하늘 문을 열고 너희에게 복을 쌓을 곳이 없도록 붓지 아니하나 보라
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,' says the LORD Almighty, 'and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
11 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 내가 너희를 위하여 메뚜기를 금하여 너희 토지 소산을 먹어 없애지 못하게 하며 너희 밭의 포도나무 열매가 기한 전에 떨어지지 않게 하리니
I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,' says the LORD Almighty.
12 너희 땅이 아름다워지므로 모든 이방인들이 너희를 복되다 하리라 만군의 여호와의 말이니라
'Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,' says the LORD Almighty.
13 여호와가 이르노라 너희가 완악한 말로 나를 대적하고도 이르기를 우리가 무슨 말로 주를 대적하였나이까 하는도다
You have said harsh things against me, says the LORD. "Yet you ask, 'What have we said against you?'
14 이는 너희가 말하기를 하나님을 섬기는 것이 헛되니 만군의 여호와 앞에서 그 명령을 지키며 슬프게 행하는 것이 무엇이 유익하리요
You have said, 'It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the LORD Almighty?
15 지금 우리는 교만한 자가 복되다 하며 악을 행하는 자가 번성하며 하나님을 시험하는 자가 화를 면한다 하노라 함이라
But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape.' "
16 그 때에 여호와를 경외하는 자들이 피차에 말하매 여호와께서 그것을 분명히 들으시고 여호와를 경외하는 자와 그 이름을 존중히 여기는 자를 위하여 여호와 앞에 있는 기념책에 기록하셨느니라
Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name.
17 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 나는 내가 정한 날에 그들을 나의 특별한 소유로 삼을 것이요 또 사람이 자기를 섬기는 아들을 아낌 같이 내가 그들을 아끼리니
'They will be mine,' says the LORD Almighty, 'in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him.
18 그 때에 너희가 돌아와서 의인과 악인을 분별하고 하나님을 섬기는 자와 섬기지 아니하는 자를 분별하리라
And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.
************ 말라기 4장 ************
1 만군의 여호와가 이르노라 보라 용광로 불 같은 날이 이르리니 교만한 자와 악을 행하는 자는 다 지푸라기 같을 것이라 그 이르는 날에 그들을 살라 그 뿌리와 가지를 남기지 아니할 것이로되
'Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire,' says the LORD Almighty. 'Not a root or a branch will be left to them.
2 내 이름을 경외하는 너희에게는 공의로운 해가 떠올라서 치료하는 광선을 비추리니 너희가 나가서 외양간에서 나온 송아지 같이 뛰리라
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.
3 또 너희가 악인을 밟을 것이니 그들이 내가 정한 날에 너희 발바닥 밑에 재와 같으리라 만군의 여호와의 말이니라
Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things,' says the LORD Almighty.
4 너희는 내가 호렙에서 온 이스라엘을 위하여 내 종 모세에게 명령한 법 곧 율례와 법도를 기억하라
"Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.
5 보라 여호와의 크고 두려운 날이 이르기 전에 내가 선지자 엘리야를 너희에게 보내리니
'See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes.
6 그가 아버지의 마음을 자녀에게로 돌이키게 하고 자녀들의 마음을 그들의 아버지에게로 돌이키게 하리라 돌이키지 아니하면 두렵건대 내가 와서 저주로 그 땅을 칠까 하노라 하시니라
He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.'
